The One Man Sensation Will Hit The Road this July

Rob Madge's solo performance, which premiered at Turbine Theatre in 2021 and was later showcased at Udderbelly in 2022, followed by two West End seasons, is set to tour nationally this July.

The show, both written and acted by Rob Madge, narrates the personal tale of a young individual's passion for Disney and musicals, their journey to embracing their queer identity, and gaining their family's acceptance.

Audiences can expect to hear melodies composed by Pippa Cleary, known for The Great British Bake Off Musical', intertwined with a selection of Madge's childhood home videos. The production is under the direction of Luke Sheppard of & Juliet' fame and is a collaborative effort between Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills.

The creative ensemble comprises of costume design by Ryan Dawson Laight, lighting by Jai Morjaria, sound design by Tingying Dong, and Simon Nathan providing orchestration.

The UK tour will visit:

  • Curve Leicester (8 to 10 July),
  • Birmingham Hippodrome (11 to 13 July),
  • Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (15 to 17 July),
  • Everyman and Playhouse, Liverpool (18 to 20 July),
  • Derby Theatre (22 to 24 July),
  • HOME Manchester (19 to 25 August).

What Is My Son's A Queer About?

Reminiscing on the time Rob tried to stage a full-scale Disney parade in their living room, playing all the characters himself from Mary Poppins to Ariel and their dad on stage management duties, enjoy this re-staging of the storied event!
